The privacy of your personal information is of the utmost importance to CropLife Canada Inc. This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by CropLife Canada Inc. (“CropLife”, “we”, “us” or “our”, as appropriate) when you use our website at https://croplife.ca and any and all sub-domains of such website (“Site”), as well as the kinds of information we collect when you use our Site or when contacting us.

This Privacy Policy should be read in conjunction with our Terms of Use. Please read the Privacy Policy carefully to understand our policies and practices for collecting, processing and storing your personal information. By using the Site, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy and consent to the practices described herein.

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, “personal information” refers to information which relates, directly or indirectly, to an identifiable individual. Any personal information collected by CropLife Canada on the Site is subject to this Privacy Policy. All capitalized terms not defined in this Privacy Policy are defined in our Terms of Use.

Object of the Privacy Policy. Our main objective when we collect information about you is to offer you a secure, effective and personalized experience, provide you with services and functions that meet your needs, and to personalize our service to make your experience more secure and friendlier. The information we collect about you is solely information we deem necessary to achieve this objective.

Collecting and Using your Personal Information. In order to use the features of our Site, we may request that you provide certain personal information. Unless permitted or required by law or regulation or with your consent, we will only collect personal information that is necessary to provide you with our services, and will essentially use this information to give you access to our Site and benefit from a secure, effective and personalized experience.   • When you visit our Site

We collect information about your activities on our Site such as the pages you visit. If you are a Member or provided other personal information about yourself (for example, if you send us an e-mail), a cookie ID can be associated with you personally.   • When you create a CropLife Member account

You may browse our Site without registering for an account. However, to access certain features of our Site, we require you to register for an account and provide us with certain personal information (thereafter, a “Member”).When you register as a Member, we collect your name, e-mail address, and the name of the company that you work for. We will only use this information to manage our relationship with you, to contact you in order to answer your questions and requests, and to provide you with the information or services which you have requested.

  • Other Uses of Personal Information

If you subscribe to a mailing list or otherwise consent to receiving promotional communications, we will collect your name and email address to send you emails about various news and promotions around the Solution to which you subscribed. Even after subscribing to one or more newsletters and/or opting in to one or more offers to receive marketing and/or promotional communications from us, you may elect to modify their preferences by following the “Unsubscribe” link provided in an email or communication received.

We may also use personal information collected from you for the following general purposes: (1) to fulfill your requests for information or services, including if you enter into a promotional contest; (2) to improve our Site; (3) to contact you to resolve problems or to answer your questions; (4) to send you information about services including technical notices, updates, security alerts, support and administrative messages; and (5) to make the Site easier to use by reducing the need for you to enter information.

By completing the “Contact” form on the Site, you allow us to contact you using the information provided only for the purpose of responding to your comment or question. The information you provide when filling out the contact form will be stored to allow us to analyze and respond to your request.

Technical Information and Cookies. When you visit the Site and use our services we may collect, using electronic means such as cookies, technical information that is sent to us via the device you are using. This information may include the IP address of your computer and mobile device, which browser you used to access the Site, your operating system, resolution of screen, location, language settings in browsers, the site you came from and searched for keywords (if arriving from a search engine). We may transfer or disclose some personal information to external service providers that we use to facilitate, process, or outsource one or more aspects of the operation of our Site or our services, such as data hosting, tech development and statistical analysis. to the extent it is necessary for them to complete their function. These external service providers are subject to contractual agreements with us and other legal restrictions, and are prohibited from using any of the information we provide them for any purpose other than to facilitate the specific outsourced related operation. In addition, they are required to process personal information according to the same standards as those set out in this Privacy Policy.

If you are a Member, your personal information will not be shared with other Members.

From time to time, we may be required to provide personal information in response to a valid court order, subpoena, government investigation, or as otherwise required by law. We also reserve the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we, in good faith, believe to be unlawful. We may release or otherwise disclose certain personal information when we believe that such release is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property, and safety of others and ourselves.

We may also disclose your personal information in connection with a corporate transaction, proceeding, or reorganization involving the Site or our other business activities for which the information is maintained. In the event that ownership of CropLife or its business was to change as a result of a merger, acquisition, or transfer to another company, your personal information may be transferred. In the event the transaction goes through, we will require that the receiving party be similarly bound by the provisions of this Privacy Policy and that it will only use and disclose your personal information as we are similarly entitled under this Privacy Policy. If such a transfer results in a material change in the way your personal information is used, you will be provided notice about the choices you have with respect to such a transfer. In the event the transaction does not go through, we will require the receiving party not to use or disclose your personal information in any manner whatsoever and to completely erase the same.

Transfer of Personal Information Outside of Canada. Our head office is located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. In some cases, personal information that we manage may be disclosed, processed and stored outside of your jurisdiction of residence, and therefore may be available to government authorities, courts, law enforcement, or regulatory agencies under laws applicable there. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your personal information is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and Canadian law, whether by ourselves or by any service providers we may retain.

Links to other sites do not imply that CropLife endorses or is affiliated with such other sites. We cannot be held liable for any damages whatsoever arising from the use of the information or such links or the functionality of the sites to which these links direct, whether direct, indirect, consequential, special, punitive, exemplary or otherwise, and whether the claim is for contract, negligence, strict product liability or otherwise. Security of Personal Information. We will use commercially reasonable security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, using physical, electronic or administrative security measures that are appropriate with regards to the nature and sensitivity of the information. We take reasonable measures to limit access to personal information to those employees and contractors who need to know the information in order to provide their services, and ensure those employees and contractors are aware of their responsibilities.

The safety and security of your information also depends on you. If you are a Member, your password is an essential tool to ensure the protection of your account. If you lose control of your password, you could also lose control of your personal information. If the security or use of your password is compromised, for any reason whatsoever, you must notify CropLife Canada immediately. Please be careful whenever sending personal information to us via e-mail. E-mail is generally not a secure means of transferring information. We therefore cannot guarantee that this information will not be lost or used in a fraudulent manner and we encourage the use of e-mail encryption to communicate with us.

Despite all our efforts to preserve the confidentiality of your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted via the Site, and third persons may illegally intercept information housed on our Site or our systems’ security may otherwise be breached. In such a case, we cannot be held liable for any loss, corruption or unauthorized disclosure of information that would be beyond our reasonable control.

Retention of Personal Information. Your personal information will be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes for which it was collected, unless we have your consent or as required to do so by law or regulation.

Once those purposes have been achieved, we will take appropriate steps to ensure your personal information is destroyed in a safe and permanent manner, unless it is anonymized (using best practices and in accordance with any regulatory requirements) for further serious and legitimate purposes, without further notice or consent to you. In this case, we will ensure the anonymized information cannot identify you.

Accessing, Correcting and Deleting your Personal Information. It is important that any personal information you provide to us as a Member is accurate and up to date. If any of your information changes while using the Site, please update it in your account or contact us using the contact information provided below.

By law, you have the right to request access to and to correct the personal information that we hold about you. If you want to review, verify, correct, or withdraw consent to the use of your personal information you may also send us an email at info@croplife.ca to request a copy of or to access, correct, or delete any personal information that you have provided to us. We may not accommodate a request to change information if we believe the change would violate any law or legal requirement or cause the information to be incorrect.

Unless restricted by law, we will take all reasonable steps to functionally delete your personal information from our database(s) upon request, although we may keep a copy for archival purposes for as long as necessary, in our opinion, to comply with applicable laws. We will do our best to respond to your request to access, update or delete your personal information within thirty (30) days. Before we are able to provide you with any information, correct any inaccuracies or delete any information, however, we may ask you to verify your identity and to provide other details (in a secure manner) to help us to respond to your request.

We will assist anyone who informs us that they need assistance in preparing a request concerning personal information. You may challenge the accuracy and completeness of the information and have it amended as appropriate. Subject to applicable laws, administrative charges may apply.

You may withdraw your consent to our collection, use and disclosure of your personal information at any time, subject to legal and/or contractual restrictions and upon reasonable notice. Your withdrawal of consent to our collection, use and disclosure of your personal information may impact your ability to access the Site and may result in the loss of your Member status. Anti-Spam. We are committed to providing transparency with respect to our practices in complying with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation and its relevant regulations (“CASL”). CropLife may send you commercial electronic messages (“CEM”) from time to time which could include messages pertaining to the Site and other CropLife products and information, including conferences organized by CropLife.

If you have received a CEM from CropLife it is because either you have previously provided your express consent, we have your implied consent under CASL, or because the type of message sent is exempt under CASL. If you have received a CEM, and you believe that you should not have or would like to unsubscribe, please contact us immediately at info@croplife.ca in order to unsubscribe and we will remove your electronic address from our list within 10 business days.

Change of Privacy Policy. If there is any material change in our Privacy Policy, the revised statement will be posted on this Site. Your continued provision of personal information or use of our Site following any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of any such changes..
